"Together Forever" Our sweet Mother, Erma Hickman Bird, passed away peacefully with her family surrounding her on April 18, 2013. She was born in American Fork, June 27, 1915 to Frank Leslie and Olive Ida Nixon Hickman. She attended primary and middle school in Provo. Her family moved to Salt Lake City after that and she graduated from South High School. After High School she attended Beauty School and left to go to Southern California to seek her fortune. There she met and married the love of her life, Ralph Bird, in 1938. They built a home in the city of Mar Vista, CA. There they raised five children " Gilbert (Shannon), Chris (Marilyn), Gloria (Joey) Anderson, Maureen Wolfe and Darrell. In 1968 they moved to Citrus Heights (Sacramento) where they purchased Sylvan Drug Store. In 1982 they visited their daughter Gloria in Germany where they were able to explore Europe. They retired in 1981 and served as Temple workers in the Oakland Temple for 12 years. In 2000 she lost her husband Ralph Bird. After Ralph's death, her home became even more of a refuge for family to visit. In 2009 she moved to St George to be with Gil and Shannon, for special loving care in her last years. She will be dearly missed, but will never be forgotten. Preceded in death by her husband, parents and siblings. Funeral will be held on April 27, 2013, 11:00 a.m., at the LDS Chapel, 5555 S 700 West, Murray. Viewings will be held on Fri. April 26, from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 10:30 at the chapel. Interment at Wasatch Lawn. Directors Independent Funeral Service
